White Rock’s Festival of Lights: Diwali Integration, happens this Saturday, October 7 in Semiahmoo Park at East Beach between 12pm and 10pm.
Diwali is a five-day festival of lights and is traditionally celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains around the world. Coinciding with the Hindu New Year, Diwali celebrates “the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair”.
Head to the park for entertaining multicultural music and performances, food trucks, face painting, henna and an epic fireworks display at 8:30pm. Admission is free and all activities are family-friendly.
Opening Ceremonies will begin at 12:00 noon on the the Main Stage (located at Semiahmoo Park 15782 Marine Drive, White Rock)
The International Community Celebrations Society of BC, a non-profit organization that promotes the diversity of Canadian Multi-Culturism, has partnered with the City of White Rock to bring international communities together in a show of solidarity.
Parking and Transit:
Parking is free at the Semiahmoo First Nation parking lot (located behind the Washington Avenue Grill at 15782 Marine Drive).
This event is part of the White Rock Fall Festival of Arts.
